Open Letter to the Greater Good Science Center
Posted in Uncategorized on March 10th, 2009 by Lynn – Be the first to commentOn Friday, February 27th, I attended a seminar at the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley. The seminar was on the science of compassion. The day changed the way I look at my work and the work of Glitter & Razz. It made me realize that we are in the business of making the world more compassionate.
Here is some of what I said…
As someone who has always identified with the term “social entrepreneur,” I now feel able to articulate how Glitter & Razz is more than just a quality arts experience for young children. In fact, as a social venture, we are in the business of achieving global compassion. We do this by engaging young children in theater-based experiences focused on collaboration, play, imagination, generosity, and story sharing. Your seminar not only gave me language with which to talk about my work, it also gave me very practical information to weave into our curriculum and program development.
